Serpentine Belt Performance Problems
Hi! My name is Nate McCullough on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip I am going to offer some advice on avoiding costly diagnosis time by doing a little visual inspection yourself. In particular, if you happen to notice a dramatic change in the performance of your accessory i.e., one day your air conditioning drops off and it doesn’t work at all or your power steering just quits working or you notice your engine starting to overheat or running harder than it should or the battery is not staying charged the way it should. The first thing you are going to want to do before you seek the surfaces of a professional mechanic, is take the time to open your hood and make sure that the accessory drive belt is adjusting properly and in fact, present. It is possible and I’ve seen it numerous occasions just being the location of where I am at is in Michigan we get a foot of snow, regular basis and every day of the winter that foreign material can get inside the engine compartment; snow can build up and actually shove your serpentine belt off its pulleys. Just like I said that in order to avoid expensive diagnosis time, they will charge you, they will just for bringing the car into the shop. So make if you notice a drop in vehicle accessory performance, open the hood and take a look at your valves.
