Weekend Warrior Workout: Goals

OK, so the end result of this workout is to give you more preparation for your weekend warrior-type sports, give you range of motion around the joint, flexibility, core conditioning, and, very importantly, the link between the upper body and the lower body through the core. The workout is designed to be full-body, so that you work everything and not just one area over another. Sports are a continuum. Sports are kinetic. It starts in the ground, works its way up through our arms to where the ball is. So we want to design a workout for you that is simple, didn't take a lot of time, is relatively simple for beginners, and easy to grow and adapt with. You can challenge yourself from this basic routine to make it more challenging for yourself. Injury prevention: the key to injury prevention is consistency. If you do this workout a couple times a week, you're less likely to get injured than if you don't do the workout at all. That doesn't mean you're not going to get injured, but studies show that when you do full-body-type routines, you're better prepared for the activities that you want to participate in. Consistency. Slow, controlled movements. Listen to your body. Don't push through pain. And, most importantly, whenever you do this stuff, have fun. That's what it's intended for. Alright, good luck.
