Picking a Theme for Your Convention

This next clip is on how to pick a theme for your convention. If at all possible you really want to pick something that you know. It's very difficult to put a convention together using subject matter that's completely unfamiliar. So pick something you know. I personally know science fiction, I personally know anime. I have two young children who have gotten me into anime and I picked something that was not quite out on the market yet and that was a combination of two genres, that being sci-fi, Star Trek specifically, and anime, and that was Naruto specifically. On a business side, I'm in marketing. So if I were doing a business convention I would choose a subject of marketing. And I've run conventions in that vein. So try to pick something you know, something you're familiar with so when something happens, whether it be something good or something bad, you'll know how to react. You'll know who to bring in, you'll know who your target audience is. And it's going to help you to do your marketing. It's going to help you bring in your vendors. It's going to make you more successful and hopefully make a very successful convention for the target audience. And what we'll end up doing is talking about who these people are.
