Bicycle Maintenance: Contact Points

A very under rated part of the bike experience is addressing all your contact points. Where you're sitting, where your hands are and where your feet are, will really help in comfort and performance in your bike. If it's been a while and your tape is kind of worn down and it's thin, think about replacing the bar wrap. Any mechanic here will replace the bar wrap and professional wrap. It will look really clean, your hands will thank you. If you address this contact point in your saddle, we spoke a little bit about saddle choice, saddle height and position. That will go a long way because this is where the majority of your weight is on the bike, where your sitting on the saddle. Lastly a good thing to look at is your feet, where you're contacting the bike and your feet. So if you've used the cofless peddles for the last season, it's probably time to change the cleats. Check them out, make sure there are no cuts in them. Replace them as necessary. Where you're sitting, where you're contacting the bike and your feet are really important parts of the bike that will give you a little bit extra comfort.
