Belly Dancing Drill: Pelvic Drop

Now that you've learned the mechanics of the hip, the pelvic drop and tuck, we're going to drill it and we're going to do it at different tempos and also accent it on the down and on the up. Let's begin by having the feet slightly apart, the knees are going to be soft, make sure the feet stay parallel to each other and close together. So bend those knees a little bit, bring that belly button in; lift your chest and we're going to accent on the down. Go 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, 1 2 3 4 and a little bit faster; 1 and 2, and 3; and 4, and 5; and 6, and 7; and 8, and 1; and 2, and 3; and 4, and 5; and 6, and 7; and 8. Now let's accent on that up; so we'll go up 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8; and 1, and 2; and 3, and 4; and 5, and 6; and 7, and 8. Be sure to keep your chest lifted, keep your shoulders still; get all the action right here. Make sure those abs are engaged the whole time.
