Hi! My name is Dan Schmidt from Chinese Martial Arts Center and for expertvillage.com. In this clip we’re going to be discussing Kung Fu for kids and Kung Fu’s toe slap kick. This is how you do it. You start with your feet together, hands over head, so you step with the left, slap the right foot and step with the right, kick the left foot. So Bri, if you can come over here and show us that. Turn this way, hands over head, step with the left foot, slap the right. Step with the right, slap the left. Okay, thank you. In Kung Fu kicking, what we like to do is we like to slap the feet. The reason why we do that is to build the strength in the hand, which builds for better, more powerful strike. Plus, also by extending the leg, you build the muscularity in the leg and also the flexibility, which makes for stronger kicking. In a modern application, this is how it would work. So let’s say Jerry punches, so the hand’s up. That would be a block and then second hand could be a slap up to the head, smack down on top of the head, and kick straight to the groin. That’s why you slap this way to build your striking power. That’s Kung Fu’s toe slap kick.
