We are going to talk about the million dollar question here: how long is it going to take for your kind of ratty hair to start looking good? After your dreads have matured they are pretty much maintenance-free, you know, very, very little maintenance, like I have not brushed my in four years. That is pretty cool I think. I don't even worry about it. I just get up and go, and whatever my hair is doing is what it is doing. But, generally for people who are not black and do not have the textured hair, it takes usually 6 months to a year or longer depending on how well you take care of them. If you take good care of them, if you you know if you keep them clean, if you play with them a lot, if you palm roll, and do all the good stuff they would like up a lot more quickly. Six months is the minimum and usually I would say it takes at least a year for them to really start looking sharp. You still have to make sure that they are not merging together because they will do that. When that happens they would kind of stick together like this. You can either tear them apart, which kind of hurts, or you can cut them apart. But sometime that leads to problems, because little pieces of your hair that are in the lock can get cut so you kind of have those little things that stick out. So you just kind of monitor that, but you know 6 months to a year or less time, if you've got textured hair. That is generally the amount of time. So if you're willing to devote some time, if you are willing to give it time, you can get some sharp looking hair that, after they've matured, is really pretty. Pretty easy you know. Pretty carefree, kind of laid back hairstyle.
