Accessories for Dreadlocks

So next we are going to talk about accessories and those you could put various things in your dreadlocks, which is kind of fun. I've got beads, little bone beads right here that I have. It's being held on by a hair band that I kind of tied so it is larger than the hole in the bead, so it keeps it up. I have heard that you could hot glue beads into your hair. But, I personally wouldn't recommend getting a hot glue gun going near your head. So I would probably try to stay away from that. One of the traditional dreadlocks accessories is called a tam, and that is the the kind of hat that covers the top of your head and all your dreadlocks go into. It gets big and kind of bulbous in the back and you could see a lot of Rastafarian wearing them because some Rastafarian don't show their hair to anyone. That is just part of their religion but not all of them are that strict with it but, they come in different sizes depending on the length of your dreadlocks. Also normal hair accessories probably are not going to work if your hair is long, for instance shoulder length or longer, because when your hair is when it's in dreadlocks doesn't compress and they don't have the power or the strength to hold you hair up. They have what they call dread bands and they are big headbands that you could of wear like a head band, or twist it up twice to keep your hair back. I found that I could sometimes buy little hair bands that you would use for a ponytail. If they are the thick ones I could put my hair up in a ponytail. I also sometimes do two ponytails, like that, with smaller pretty stretchy hair bands. Those occasionally do break. The beads, you have to make sure that the holes on them are big enough so they all fit on your dreadlocks. So you could get little silver dangle things and seashells, all sorts of stuff. Generally once your dreadlocks get going, hats do not fit on your head as well. So you have to get hats specially because your hair doesn't compress. It is kind of big. You can't wear normal hats.
