Best Hair Length for Dreadlocks

Okay I'm going to talk about hair length when you are starting your dreads out. I believe that the minimum length I read is around 5 inches but, I would not - this for white people because for black people, you could start dreadlocks when your hair is really short. Just like an inch or so long and you could do it by taking a soft brush and just rubbing in circles on you head and that makes it into little balls and those just kind of grow. So for white people - you can't do that. In most cases your hair is probably going to be a little longer, so you want at least 5 inches. But, I would suggest like shoulder length or longer. If you get a lot longer it is going to take a lot more back combing to get them to dread, and you may have trouble finding somebody who wants to devote that much time to it - it's a laborious process so you might have trouble you know finding someone who want to you know devote as many hours as that takes. You know you want to make sure that you know cause when I and you also want to make sure that your hair is all the same length because I started my dreads when my hair was not all the same length and that was a really bad idea because I had really short hair except for some bangs. So I did my bangs first and then I waited for the other hair to grow out and that was just kind of bad because I had dreadlocks here and I just had, and so we had to wait until my hair grew out to do the other one. It was just a bad idea and for a while they look pretty horrible. But shoulder length is probably a safe thing and your hair will shorten when you are dreading it. So be aware of that because you know you are just kind of fattening your hair, compressing out fanning it so it does get shorter.
