Music Stand for Conducting Orchestra

The next thing that I want to show you is one way to set up your music stand. There many other, many different opinions about how conductors should set up their music stand and some conductors are fortunate enough to have a fancy stand that set. But for most of us we're probably using these basic music stands. So first I'm going to push it down where it's waist level. Now when it's set up the way a performer would use it, read their music it'll get in the way of your conducting playing; so I'm going to push it down like this, I'm going to spin it around; now I have a flat surface where I can lay all my materials, I can see my score; I have my baton ready, I have my pencil ready; I have my tuner and this lid kind of helps hide anything that might be distracting.
