Heel-Toeing: Manual Transmission Driving: Learn to Use A Stick Shift: Free Video
Hi! It’s Rob with Expert Village. Once you get proficient at driving a manual transmission car, you may want to take it to the next level and that is racing, auto crossing or some kind of competition with a manual transmission car. A common term you will hear is called heel toeing and that has to do with being able to blip the gas while applying brake and shifting all at the same time. It sounds complicated but it really isn’t. Let me show you. With your right foot, if you need to blip the gas which means you want to give it a little stab while applying brake at the same time, use the left part of the ball of your foot to apply the brake and then you are going to twist over and hit the gas and I’ll show you what it sounds like while you are moving with the car driving. You are in a high gear and coming around a turn, your braking, hit the gas and you stay smooth. That’s the goal of heel toeing.
