Clutch: Manual Transmission: Learn to Drive a Stick Shift: Free Online Lesson
Hi! It’s Rob again with Expert Village and here we have some examples of clutches. These are Datsun 260Z clutches and this one is in pretty decent shape as just like with brake pads you can see there is quite a lot of meat on the clutch disc itself. When you push the clutch, pedal in, it creates a gap between the transmission and the engine and you release the clutch pedal, the disc and the pressure plate are connected and now the engine and transmission are connected and you can get movement. Here is a less worn clutch, slight worn one. As you can see, it is starting to wear out. You can see that it is getting closer and closer to the metal and here we have a totally worn out clutch. There are no ribs left in it or any meat left in the pad of itself. This can happen when you use too much gas and not enough clutch and you are just starting to learn how to drive a clutch.
