I’m Bobbi Linkemer on behalf of expertvillage.com, and I’d like to invite you to visit my website at writeanonfictionbook.com. This is kind of a horror story, which is really unfortunate. This was also a very expensive book. It’s called Beyond the Ice cream Cone: The Whole Scoop on Food at the 1904 World’s Fair; it’s by Pam Vicaro, who went back to all the original research. All of her files, including the cookbooks that she included here, go back to documents from the World’s Fair. Her graphics and her photographs come out of private collections and archives. She spent a lot of money having this put together. A couple of things are wrong. She would have liked much more white space in the design, but they were rushed because this had to be in the stores before the end of the 100-year anniversary of the fair. The other thing is that when she got her first shipment of books, the printing on the pictures was not good. If you want to just compare it to the printing on the pictures on this book, it’s really a huge gap in quality, so she had it reprinted. Unfortunately, she was not happy with this either. Here is someone who really spent all the money as a self-publisher to put out a perfect book and was kind of done in by technology and time crunches and the graphic designer. I guess this is a case of there are no guarantees.
