Six Things You Need to Write a Non-Fiction Book: Part 2

I’m Bobbi Linkemer on behalf of expertvillage.com, and I’d like to invite you to visit my website at writeanonfictionbook.com. The fifth thing is self-discipline. Now, a lot of people ask me how I get all this discipline to sit down and write for hours at a time. I have to admit that my form of meeting self-discipline is getting up out of the chair, but for most people it is sitting down and staying there. There is no getting around that. If you’re going to write a book or even an article, you have to sit down and put your fingers on the keys and do it: so self-discipline is a biggie. The sixth thing is support and guidance. Let’s start with your family. Do they think this is a great idea? Are they in your corner or do they think you’re slightly mad? Do you have friends who are supportive and when you tell them about the book they get all excited? Are you part of a writing group? Have you ever taken a class? Are you watching this video? All these things are ways of keeping you pumped up and excited. There are people that you really can talk to; there are editors. If you’re lucky enough to have an agent, that’s great support.
