Setting the Cut Depth on a Fixed Base Power Router

Hi! This is Jon on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I’ll talk to you about setting the depth of cut for a power router. The first thing that you need to do is insert the motor into the fixed base. You can turn that in a clockwise direction, and you’ll notice that your blade will appear on the other end. Now, to set the depth of cut, will be determined by how much you turn the motor into the fixed base. I’m going to set my router bits about half way out, and then I’m going to make sure that I tighten the holding clamp here. This locking lever adjustment will hold my router bit in the proper location, and it will make sure that it doesn’t slip on me when I’m routing my piece of stock. You always want to make sure to double check to make sure that that is securely tightened.
