Basic Safety Guidelines for Using a Fixed Base Power Router

Hi! This is Jon on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I will be discussing safety rules for power routers. Make sure that you never run the motor unless the motor is in the fixed base. You want to make sure that you keep the handles dry and clean from any oil or grease. If there does get oil and grease on it, make sure that you wipe it off. You want to make sure that you keep your hands and fingers away from the cutting blades. When cutting, you want to keep a firm grip on the router and make sure that you don’t tip it back and forth. Before you start, you want to make sure that your router bit is not touching the piece that you’re going to be cutting. Otherwise, your router will just take off. Once you’re done making a cut, you want to make sure that you do not touch the blade immediately after, because it will be hot.
