Proper Fit of a Suit Jacket: Professional Wardrobe for Women

Hi my name is Jamie Yasko-Mangum and with Successful Style and Image today on Expert Village we are going to talk about the proper fit of a jacket on a business suit for a female. So when are looking at a jacket there is somethings you need to look at to make sure that it is going to fit you and it is going to look dynamic on your body shape. First lets look at the jacket you want to make sure that the shoulders fit your shoulders. They should be called set in shoulders. Now that is not a dogging shoulder where it comes down on the side. But it is a set in shoulder where it sit completely on top of your shoulder. Next you need to look at your lapel you want to make sure your lapel lays nicely on both sides. It is not bunched up, the seams aren't showing, you want to lay nicely on your chest area. When you are looking at your button you want to make sure that the buttons line up with the buttons. Make sure that the buttons line up. Then when you button it you want to make sure that it is not to tight in the bust area. It does not need to pull in the bust area. But at the same time it doesn't need to be to big. We have all this material right here you don't all that material let me just go back up you don't want a lot of material up here to. Next you need to look at the torso part of the suit. Most suits and the suits that I recommend all my clients wear are the one that have a princess cut. As you can see here it goes in the side. A princess cut suit. You want to make sure that there is not a lot of material in here. What you don't want to do is grab a ton of material. You also want to make sure in the back of the suit jacket that it is not pulling back here. You want to make sure it is not pulling. You want to make sure that it graces the back and also you want to make sure that there is not to much material here and that there is not to much material here in the back of the jacket. You want to also want to look at the sleeves the sleeves you want to make sure there not you do not want them form fitting. You want them to make sure there is a range of movability to them. So when are moving your jacket you want to make sure you are not pulling any thing. So the sleeve the sleeve needs to fit right at the top of your wrist. You don't want a sleeve coming clear down here on your hand. You don't want a sleeve coming way up here. You want a nice professional suit should fit a the top of your of your hand. You also want to make sure that it is not to short or that it is short in the back long I mean long in the back. You want to make sure when you move around with your suit, you want to make sure that you have room to move around with. What you don't want to do is pull. If you are reaching up you don't want it to pull down here or to be to tight. So watch the fit of your suit jacket is a extremely important. Thank you!
