This Gene Mortensen with the Oklahoma Golf Association I'm talking to you about the rules of golf and I would like to mention if we could rule 27, which applies to a ball out of bounds. Out of bounds is an area in which play is not permitted and it is usually defined by the boundaries fence and by white stakes and lines. In the case in point we have white stakes which surround an area, which is a practice area, and it divides it from the golf course which is on this side. In order for a golf ball to be out of bounds, all of it must be beyond the line. The line is determined by the inside edge of the white stakes. So its this point and if we look at the three balls in question we could see that the first ball here since it is outside the line form by the two post there is no question about that it is out of bounce. We could not play that ball. The next ball we have is here and there is a real question about that so your rule official would probably take a string out of his bag and run it from the inside edge of that post to the inside edge of that post. If the string runs like this the ball is in bounds because all what has to be out before it is out of bounce and there is no question about this ball being in bounce. If we were to be playing in this direction it is permissible for me to stand out of bounce and play the golf ball. When you have a golf ball that is out of bounce you are require to go back to the place where you last played and that is a teeing ground you are permitted to retee that ball. If it is other then the teeing ground you drop the ball to the closes point were you last played and play again.
