If, for some reason, where your desk needs to be in your home office is directly in line with a doorway, I want to offer you some suggestions for that. First of all, the door is where career is, but it's also the mouth of the chi, and it's where the chi, or the energy most strongly enters the room or the home. You don't really want to be sitting in line with it, because it could come at you too strongly, particularly when you're working, and you want to feel calm and concentrated. So if the door is opposite where you're sitting, you want to actually put something in between you and the door, to slow the chi down before it gets to you. Stuart says he does sit here sometimes at this couch to do some work, and he is directly opposite a rather large door, so one thing is to move the table in between you and the door, and that way you're sort of protected, and it slows it down before it gets to you. If it's a space where it doesn't make sense to put a table, because perhaps there's a desk right in front of you, another thing would be to actually put a plant in between you and the door. Maybe there's an area that isn't so directly in line with a walkway, where you could put a plant down, and again, slow the chi from coming at you before it gets there. A couple other options are to actually hang things from the ceiling, so we often use round, prism crystals, and hang them from the ceiling, and I would do it halfway between the door, and where you're sitting. You could also hang a wind chime, even though it's not outside, and it's not going to ring, necessarily. It's something that's commonly done in Feng Shui. The other thing to hang would be some kind of a mobile that has movement. Anything like that hung from the ceiling; the energy starts to come at it, and slows down before it gets to you, and therefore; protects you. So, those are some ways to protect you from the flow of chi that's coming at you when you have to be sitting in line with the door.
