Tennis 2nd Serve

In this clip, what we're going to do is show you the differences between the first and second serve. Have you ever heard the term, you're only as good as your second serve. So true. So you have to have that good second serve, and feel like you can actually hit a serve that you can't be hurt by. If you hit a serve on that up take up there, they could just come in and move you off the court, very very, a lot of running. If you want to do more running, that's okay. What Gustavo's going to show you here, he's going to show you the differences of the toss location for the first serve and the second serve and then just how he's approaching the ball. Because, now you're going to have to, we've shown you in the past, what kind of serve to hit, now you're going to have to combine it. You're going to have to be able to hit the first serve, and then if you miss it then the second serve right away. Now we're going to show you the differences. Gustavo's going to hit a couple of different serves. He'll hit a flatter serve on the first one, then a kicker on the next one. Just try to pick up on the toss locations first of all and then how he's approaching the ball. How he's making contact with the ball. How the racquet face is meeting the ball in the racquet's path. So first serve right here, flatter serve. That ball wasn't so far to his left, it wasn't so far over his head, it was almost more to his right and a little bit in the court. Very important to get the toss a little bit more in the court. Not too far in, very nice serve right there, not too far in, but you want to feel like it's just a little bit on the court so you can go up and in. That's up and in, so he's going up and in the court. So now he's going to show you, he's going to show you the kick serve. Now this one's a little bit different. The location's different. The toss is going to be a little behind him, more over his head. Now he's able to approach the ball in an upward manner with that racquet edge. Very nice right there and it's not as far in the court. The toss is not as far in the court on this one, because the ability to go up on this serve is more important. You want to feel like you're going straight up on this serve and not so far in.
