Hi! Tunisia Woods back again on behalf of Hello Beautiful Mobile Massage Therapy Group, for Expert Village. Now, I want to show you some massage techniques and strokes. I’m going to start with effleurage, but first we need to turn down the client’s sheet, put a couple of drops of oil in our hands. Now effleurage are gliding strokes, so you just want to glide across the body like this. This is to warm up tissue. The next is called petrissage. Petrissage is when we knead the body’s tissue. It’s a little deeper, but remember that we want to warm up the body’s tissue so we can get down to the underlying muscles. One way that we can petrissage is like this. It’s like kneading some dough. Make sure you move; it’s like dancing. Hey, it should be fun too. Another way we can do it with our fists. We can use our thumbs; we can use the palms of our hands. Try to use circular motions, and remember stay in a groove. So there are some ways that you can effleurage and petrissage. Let’s go over it again. Remember, effleurage are gliding strokes, so you want to glide down the body. You can use the palms of your hands as in petrissage to glide down the body. You can push; you can spread your hands out. Then remember petrissage is kneading, kind of like kneading dough. Open hands. If you’re dealing with hairy surfaces, you want to use open hands and just knead. Thank you!
