This is Robert Stewart with hill13.com. Now we're going to talk about the proper feeding of a paintball gun. The feed is the portion of the weapon that stands directly over the top of the bolt assembly that actually feeds the paint into the weapon. This is what's called a drop or vertical feed. When the weapon is charged and the bolt is back the paint comes down out of the hopper and drops straight in here. Now one of the downsides to this is that a lot of times the paintballs get jammed in the hopper and you have to shake the gun, sometimes even invert the gun to loosen the balls up and make them feed again properly. The next feed we're going to look at is what's called a cyclone feed. This is a Tipman X7 with a cyclone feed. And you can see that as the gun fires, inside, these spindles actually turn and draw the balls down and send them into the weapon. This is, in my opinion, a much more satisfactory feed system. But that's not the only type you have. With straight or vertical feeds, now, they make hoppers that will agitate the balls for you much like the cyclone and we'll get into that a little later.
