When traveling in Germany, here are some phrases you might want to know. For instance, you don’t speak any German and you need somebody to help you, so you could say, “Ich spreche kein Deutsch. Sprechen Sie English?” That would mean I don’t speak German, do you speak English. If you would not understand somebody, you would need to say, “Entschuldigung. Ich vertehe nicht. Konnten Sie das bitte wiederholen?” Excuse me I don’t understand you, could you please repeat this? Once again in German, “Entschuldigung. Ich vertehe nicht. Konnten Sie das bitte wiederholen?” If you would be in trouble and you need somebody to show you the right way because you are lost, you would say in German, “Bitte helfen Sie mir. Ich habe mich verrirt.” Please help me I am lost. Once again in German, “Bitte helfen Sie mir. Ich habe mich verrirt.” If it would be an emergency and you need someone to call the police for you, you would say “Bitte rufen Sie die Polizei.” Please call the police. Once again in German, “Bitte rufen Sie die Polizei.”
