Using Hands for Ghost Notes in Drum Patterns
Okay, so the first step here in looking at this type of ghost note shuffle is looking at exactly what the hands are doing. So, what I'm going to do first is I'll play the high hat and just the ghost notes on the snare and then I'll add in the back beat on three. So, what we're doing here is one and two and three and four, and one and two and three and four, and one and two and three and four, and one and two and three and four and a one. Now, I'll go through and I'll start playing that back beat on three. One and two and three and four. The challenge here is really to be able to play as quiet as you possibly can so let me focus on that. You really are just letting the stick drop. You're definitely not throwing a stick down. It's really all rebound. Get the hands going first and then we can add the bass drum back in.
