What is a Half-Time Drum Beat?
In looking at another type of twelve eight rock beat, we are going to be looking at the "half time field beats". The idea of these is that they have one back beat on three, rather than back beats on two and four, they feel like they are playing half as fast. So we will look into the logistics of that but we will also look at many examples of "Half time field beats", such as (drummer drumming)and we will also look at the "Ghost note half time shuffles" that were make famous by John Bonner with Led Zeppelin and also Jeff Percaro of the group "Towdo" and those involved using Ghost notes like this(drummer drumming). So we will look at that and we will also look at concept by the R and B legend "Zorro", where he will actually take the half time shuffle field and incorporate the tongs in the shuffle pattern. We will incorporate all of that with the ghost notes into one big complicated beat.
