Trumpet Tips

Now let's take a look at trumpets. This is a standard trumpet as used by people in beginning, intermediate orchestra. The trumpet sound as opposed to the coronet sound is a little harsher; it's a little more brassy. So this would be considered more of a band type of voicing. They are a valve instrument similar to the coronet. There are slides on trumpets to help adjust the pitch and tuning while you play, those vary depending on the model of the trumpet. This is a standard trumpet. There are other trumpets that are a "C Key" trumpet. As you can see it's a little shorter here, and that alters the pitch of the trumpet. Some trumpets are silver, or silver plated, these are a higher order trumpet played by a better player.
