Pro Tools EQ Tips

The next thing I'm going to show you how to do is to add EQ. The reasons why you would add EQ is to clean up the track or give a certain sound. You know, EQ basically you can boost and you can decrease the amplitude of different frequencies depending on which ones you choose. On this one right now I have, the first sample that I got right here has a little bit of drums kind of in the background that I put in there that I just kind of never took out. So what I can do is I can add an EQ. Within my inserts, I'm going to go to the first one and I'm going to turn on a seven band EQ. Now, what I can do is I can highlight this and play it so that it loops, so just that is playing. Now with this EQ, I'm going to try and cut out the drums a little bit by just going like this. So now I get just the sound. Now I really don't have anymore of that bass from within the kit. So now I'm just going to duplicate this track, erase this one, and these waveforms so that now just the intro is being EQed. When the rest plays it won't have the EQ on it anymore.
