Pro Tools Beat Detective Tips

Beat Detective is a tool that helps you quantize live audio. Basically, you can record something live and then it will chop it up and quantize it to whatever machine you want it to do. You can quantize it with like Q bass or with the swing from MPC or with anything you choose. So, what you do first you've got to open up Beat Detective. Go into windows and you open up Beat Detective. Once I've opened up my Beat Detective, I just recorded a snare of the sample I already have. But, the snare is not completely on. Let me show it to you. I recorded that live. So, what I want to do now is I want to fix it. I want to make it so it's right on point. So, I'm going to wind it up. What I'm going to do is, I'm going to go to region separation. I'm going to capture the selection and analyze it. Once I analyze it, I can bring up this bar and it's going to show me the cuts where it's going to cut it. It's going to cut it right before each of the snares. So, I'm going to separate it. Press region conform, capture selection again. And, I'm going to change the groove to an MPC fifty-one percent to conform it. Now, I want to play it. It should be on point.
