Adding a Strip to Neckline for a Reversible Poncho
Now we're going to cut a piece of contrasting fabric to finish off our woven neckline. I've chosen this pretty bright blue and I'm going to cut a one inch strip that will weave in and out of the slits that we've cut around the neckline. And that will join the two pieces of our reversible poncho. O.k. now we're going to weave this um the contrasting fabric in and out of the slits and that will join the two fabrics in our reversible poncho. Um, you want to choose the front of your poncho. The front is going to be on a corner, so you want to choose the front of your poncho. And you can find the center of the front by folding the poncho; by folding it in half and just mark that area of the front. You put a pin in there if you want to remember where it is. O.k. and then you want your, your woven fabric is going to come out here. O.k. you just pull it, you push it through from outside and then you come up from the back and just around the entire neckline poking it through. And you could use a pencil with an eraser or the scissors closed to help you push the fabric through the holes if you're having difficulty, like this. Or, you can just poke it through with your finger. Now when you cut the slits, do keep in mind not to make the slits too large because they do stretch. And we'll go all the way around the neckline and finish out at the front. O.k., now we'll finish up with our last woven piece coming out there. Now you can leave the strings a little bit long and you can use it to tie a bow or you can knot it off permanently, whichever way you like. But, that is our finished woven neckline.
