Cutting Foam for a Batman Mask
Now I'll show you how to make a batman mask. For this project, you'll need a piece of black fun foam. You'll need a piece of black elastic. You'll need a white crayon or something that will write on the fun foam. Some nice heavy double stick sticky tape. A little bit of tape to cover the staple. A stapler and a scissor. Ok, we want to start with our base mask pattern and we're going to we'll place it down on our black fun foam. Now we're going to follow the nose section like this. We're only coloring half of the mask and I'm going to mark here and here the halfway point of our mask. And we'll draw down trace our base mask along here, but on this side, I'm going to come down to make a fuller mask like a larger cheek there. And then you want to come up like this. I'm trying to get this crayon to write so you can see it. And you come up and make those pointy bat ears and down here to the center line. When you have that shape, then you can remove that and fold the fun foam along that center line and then we'll cut this out so that we have a symmetrical mask. And just go right along your line. Now the side that we drew on is going to be the inside of the mask, so you won't see all this white drawing line. Ok, and there's the shape of our mask and then we'll put our pattern back on like this and just trace the eye holes so that we can cut those out. You just pierce like that and snip around the eye hole. You can always adjust the size of the eye hole after you try the mask on. Just snip it out and then we'll do the other eye. Now this is going to be the right side and you don't see all the white markings. Now, let's before we finish the nose piece on the batman mask, we're going to attach the elastic and you want to attach the elastic to the wrong side to the inside of the mask and just a little bit above the eye on the side. So we'll staple from the front to the back making sure that you catch the elastic and then take a piece of soft tape, electrical tape works well for this, to cover the staple.
