Making a Cat Mask
Now we'll show you how to make a cat mask. I've used a brown fun foam and a little pink fun foam. We'll need the electrical tape, the soft tape to cover the staples and a bit of elastic. I'm using a darker elastic to go with the darker colored mask. And some of this feather boa to give the cat a fuzzy look and you can also use it in the costume for a tail. So you want to start by taking your base mask and you're going to mostly copy that, but we're going to add on the top of it, some nice ears. So you can trace on the backside of the mask, you'll trace out the bottom part and the eyes and then you'll make one ear and then fold the mask in half and then cut like this, cut the second ear. So that way you'll have two nice even ears. And then anywhere that you've drawn, you want to make that the back of the mask and keep the clean side for the front. Then you want to cut a couple of pink triangles to put here and we'll glue those with a nice thick craft glue. Just glue those down like that. And then we'll attach the elastic on to our mask. You want to measure the elastic to the person who's going to wear it, so you try the mask on them and you hold the elastic and figure out exactly how long you want that to be. And we're going to staple it on from the front, from the front to the back, and then we'll cover the staple part here with a little bit of electrical tape so that it won't scratch the wearer. And then put your elastic on the other side. If you want, you can also secure the mask with a tie that would tie on, but the elastics seems to be the best way to do it that's easy to put on and off, you don't have to bother with tying it every time. And then finally, for our cat mask, we're going to put a nice bead of glue along the top here. Nice and thick right along the top. You want to make sure that you're doing it high enough so that the feathers don't get in the way of the eyes and then you just put that feather boa right on top like that and it gives it a really nice touch, a nice fuzzy, furry kitty cat.
