So now we're going to deal with "storing" our xylophone. We've made it, we've played it, we've explored some different hammer options, and now it's time to make sure that our xylophone lasts for a very long time, and keeps its' tone for years to come. Now copper has a property that makes it oxidize. If you wear a copper on your finger, you'll realize that your finger will turn green because of the oxidization. Now we want to protect the copper from moisture in the air, from the air itself, because we don't want the copper to build up residue to deteriorate or to lose its' perfect pitch that we spent so much time getting it to have. So, what I'm going to recommend, is taking it, and there's no need to buy a special case for it, but rather, just take an old tee-shirt that you don't wear anymore, make the pipes just kind of lay over it, and then fold the tee-shirt over the top of the pipes. And that is a great way to store your xylophone to protect it from air, from moisture, and just really from anything that might knick it or change the tone and the pitch of your pipes, because we want to keep this thing in good condition. It's not an easy thing to make, but it's possible, very doable, and with a great result!
