Attaching Wooden Dowels for a Xylophone Mallet

Now we have an oak dowel here, and an oak dowel here, of different sizes. Now since the hole in this wood is a little bit smaller than this dowel, we're not going to get the oak dowels to give a lot of "give". So what we need to do is use the utility knife to make a little shave off of the connecting dowel, just to get it started so it will give us some leeway once we get it inside. Now that we've given ourselves a little leeway, we're going to need a little more leeway than that, not a problem. You need a very sharp, sharp knife to get through this stuff, but it's possible. We're going to try it one more time, and this looks like it's the right time. So, a little elbow grease, we have our wooden dowel, get that in there real good, perfect! So we've got a nice wooden mallet now to play our xylophone with. Let's try it out!
