Philosophies of a Midwife

Hello! My name is Maureen Browne and on behalf of expertvillage.com, this is clip here today is to discuss what is the philosophy and scope of a midwife. A midwife strives to empower and support the woman, help her overcome her fears, and look forward to becoming a mother. A midwife’s care focus is on supporting women in normal pregnancy and labor without known high-risk medical factors. 85 % of women have normal pregnancies. If a pregnancy and/or labor deviates from normal a midwife consults with an obstetrician for the continued plan of the woman’s care.
