Cutting the C Pipe for a Xylophone

So the first note we're going to cut is going to be the highest note and then we're going to work down to the lowest note. So, our highest note is a C. So right now we're going to cut the C. Now, I've gone ahead and measured just about how long our C needs to be to get us started. And the way that we're going to do that, if we haven't done this before, is we're going to start with, I'd say about a ten inch section of pipe and then just work it down, little by little, until we hit the C. So I did that already and I know that my C is around eight inches plus an eighth of an inch. So eight and an eighth of an inch is where I'm going to make my cut, just a little above that. So I'm going to make a marking on it. At eight and an eighth of an inch. Just above that so I have my marking and now. Oh, let's find it. And now I'm going to make my cut right on it with my pipe cutter as we discussed earlier. This is a very good tool to use for this. Just there. Then we're just going to wrap it around that pipe and get a good nice cut. Twist a fourth of an inch. Put it around a few times. Just another bit. Oh, there we go. So we've got our C or what we think is going to be close to our C. And now we're going to go ahead and move on preparing the pipe so it can be a usable xylophone piece.
