Picking String for a Copper Pipe Xylophone

The next thing we're going to do is pick the right material to attach our metal notes to our xylophone bar holder. Now, I suggest using a thick black string. I like the color black because it doesn't show up very much. It looks professional. And, it kind of conceals itself and brings out the nice tone of the copper, that nice amber color. So, this is pretty strong. I can give it a good tug. It's not going to break. Which is good because we need this to have pretty good strength qualities in order to withhold the vibration against the metal of the copper as we're playing the notes. So, I'm going to go ahead and cut this. We're just going to test it out. String it through a copper pipe and see if it's going to do the job for us. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a needle. I'm going to thread this. Stick it through the small hole that we drilled in our note. Then, hold one end of the string as I thread it through. Ooh, I lost it. Let's try this one more time. I'm going to thread the needle. I'm going to thread it through. Now I'm just going to test out. Yeah I can get a good amount of tension on it and the metal is not going to cut it. And, the vibration won't break it either. So, we're good with this string.
