Now we're going to prepare the bar so we can attach the notes to it after we've made them. So first we're going to cut it off at the fourteen inches that we discussed in the last part of the series. I'm just going to get up. Great! Now, I've chosen some hard wood to do this because I want it to have solid integrity. I want this to be a very nice instrument when we're done. So the next thing we're going to do to our piece of oak here is we're going to make our measurements. We talked about having them one and a half inches apart, with an inch of give on each side. So, I'm going to put out our ruler here. Line it up. Take a pen. I'm just going to make a little mark that we can sand off later, at the one inch mark on each side. Next, I'm going to start by going in, let's see we have one, two, three, four...eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, which is exactly what we want. So, inch and a half, inch and a half, inch and a half, inch and a half, inch and a half, inch and a half. Here we go. So we should have eight markings here. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. We're ready to go.
