Making a Stem for Sunflower Crafts
Ok, now to finish off our sunflower, we'll finish the stem. You want to take your floral tape and wrap the skewer with the floral tape. The floral tape is very easy to use. It's not sticky to the touch, but it sticks to itself. It's sort of a waxed paper tape. And you can break it off. And then, in order to get the sunflower to do that bending like a natural sunflower, we're going to take a bit of green pipe cleaner and twist it around the top portion of our stem, like this, nice and tight. And then, just break the skewer, like that. Now the pipe cleaner will help to hold...the skewer kind of holds together a little bit because it's got the floral tape on it, and the pipe cleaner also gives it a little bit of support. And then you can bend it like that to have your sunflower look. Ok, now our leaves have dried with the pipe cleaner. And I just wanted to show you what's nice about making a leaf like this with the pipe cleaner glued to it, is that now you can bend and shape that leaf, and you can make it, it gives it a nice natural look. And the pipe cleaner will hold the shape. And then you can add that to your flower arrangement, and it really gives it a nice natural look.
