Cutting Vines for Flower Kids' Crafts
Now I'll show you how to make a trailing vine and some ivy. For the trailing vine you want to make some basic leaf shapes like this. You can make a pattern for yourself or you can just freehand cut them, and you want to make a lot of these. It's good to use a variety of the greens. If you can get a couple of different color greens it makes it look even a little bit more natural. Just cut yourself a bunch of this shape. When you have a good amount, you take a skewer, and you're going to pierce a hole here on the side. You want to pierce it on the side of the leaf here so it comes sort of up the side and it comes through like that. Here, let me show you with another one. You go in a little bit from the bottom of the leaf here on the side, and go in and come up along the side. That will give you a leaf that can be on this side of the stem or on this side of the stem.
So if you pre-pierce all your leaves in the same place on each leaf, the pipe cleaner is not strong enough in general to get through the Fun Foam, so it's good to pre-pierce them like this before we string our leaves. Just do it the same on each leaf, and we can vary it just by flipping the leaf from one side to the other.
