Cutting Leaves for Flower Kids' Crafts
Today I'll show you how to make these beautiful fun foam flower arrangements. Fun foam comes in many colors and is easy to work with. With a few simple techniques, you can make a bouquet in no time at all. It's best to start with making the leaves when you're making your fun foam bouquets. What we'll need for making the leaves are an assortment of green fun foam, a little bit of florist tape, maybe some skewers, and some green pipe cleaners to go with the fun foam, some thick craft glue, and scissors. We'll make some basic leaf shapes here. And for this you can make any kind of a leafy shape. And what we do is glue a pipe cleaner down the center, and later when the glue dries, we can bend that pipe cleaner to shape the leaves. So you want to make a bunch of different leaves and let them dry before we make the flowers. So it's nice to make an assortment of the same type. And we'll make a bunch of this shape and then we'll make some other types. So, you make a bunch of these first. And you want to let them completely dry, and then we'll be able to bend them and shape them with the pipe cleaner. Now another good shape to have is like a long...long pieces like this. Now with these, you can also put the pipe cleaner on, or you can use a skewer. You just want to poke the skewer in, and out, and then we can use a bit of floral tape to wrap the skewer and hide the wooden skewer, cover it with green. You can also paint the skewer if you want, but the floral tape is the easiest thing to use. You just wrap it around like this, or any other kind of colored tape. Tear that off, and then we'll finish by wrapping it up, up here. And you can snip off the sharp end or just wrap it up. Now, once you have a bunch of these, you can put that into a flower arrangement, like that, and the stick keeps it nice and stiff. Now if you do the same thing with a pipe cleaner, then you have the option of having it a little bit more bendable and moldable. So, we'll take again a pipe cleaner. I'm going to use a little different color and run a good amount of glue down the center, and just lay that pipe cleaner on our leaf shape like this. And, when it dries, I'll show you how you can bend it and shape it.
