The Lag in 9 Ball Pool

In this next clip we're going to show you how to lag for the break. This is just to see who breaks. So your active ball is the nine ball, you want to see who gets the break. The fair way is called the lag. The lag is when your opponent and yourself actually hit behind the head string. And the head string is this imaginary line that goes from dot to dot in this head spot. You position two balls, usually the cue ball and you grab the one out of the rack. And you both simultaneously hit your balls from one end of the table, hitting the cushion. And the one ball that comes back closest to this rail is the winner. Now the ball could come back and hit the rail and come off. It doesn't matter. It?s not a who could come back closest without hitting it. You are allowed to hit it, but it?s just that when the ball stops rolling, whoever is closest to this far rail when the lag and gets the break first. Or even tells his opponent that he wants him to break first. But it?s always to his advantage to have the break. So let me show you, let me show you an example of the lag. So you see you want the ball to come back and finish up as close as possible to this cushion. And I would look like I would be in a pretty good position to break.
