In this section I'm going to be giving you a basic run-through on how to pick a proper helmet for freestyle skiing. You're definitely going to want to think about getting the helmet when you're getting into freestyle skiing, just because there's a lot of chance and risk for injury and hitting your head, and getting brain damage and concussions is something that nobody wants. When picking a proper helmet, there's a lot of different companies out there that make helmets geared towards freestyle skiing and snowboarding. What you want to do is make sure the helmet fits properly. As you can see here we have the exact same helmet. This one is a junior helmet. It's a lot smaller as opposed to this one right here, which is a large to an extra large, which is going to fit a grownup or a full size person like me. A lot of people nowadays like to wear their goggles and their beanies underneath the helmet, so as you can see here, this helmet offers for the back helmet strap to pop off if you want it to. It's a simple Allen wrench. A lot of the other helmet companies do that, too, just because a lot of people don't like the goggle strap actually going over the top and resting in the back of the helmet like this, but they like to wear it where they'll put their goggles, like this, and then they'll buy the helmet a little bit bigger so that you can wear a beanie and your goggles underneath. Then you just kind of want to sit it right on top right there, but you want to make sure that it's not moving around too much, but not pinching the sides of your head. With all this extra stuff on underneath, it is a good idea to buy it a little bit bigger but not too big so your head's swimming in it, because then it's not even safe. You also want to make sure that you buckle the helmet, because if you don't buckle it it falls right off and it serves no purpose, you're just wearing it to wear a helmet. So what you want to do is put it on your head not too far back and not too far forward, but right there in the middle. Pull it down snug, and you want to go under and buckle it under your chin. Not in front of your mouth. You don't want it super loose, you want it so it fits snug, so the helmet's not going anywhere. You can shake your head, see if it fits and stuff like that. They're making helmets nowadays so they fit with goggles and beanies underneath and they make them so they're as comfortable as possible so it feels like you're not even wearing a helmet like the old racing, or bike helmets, or old snowboarding helmets like that that weighed 50 lbs. These helmets are really lightweight and really comfortable to wear. I highly recommend using one if you're going to be learning freestyle skiing.
