The Side Slide Move in Skydiving & Free Flying
Hi welcome to Expert Village my name is Nicholas Daniel. We are going to go ahead and talk about the side slide. Which we are going to be talking about on our belly. Basically what you have when you are look at the human body from the top view is that you have two units that you are using to fly with: you have your upper unit and your lower unit meaning your upper body and your lower body. So we have the ability to turn with only our upper body or only our lower body. Now in order to create a much more effective turn or in this case side slide you want to be able to combine these two. So in order to create a side slide, let's say we want to go to the left, you want to think about making a left turn with your upper body so you want to bank this you can go this direction. You can go ahead and think about making a left turn with your legs. Now when you do this your entire body would kind of bank down like this and it would drive into a side ways direction towards the left. There is a basic principle behind the side slide just using the two different units and make them go to the same direction. Now what you are looking at it from the top this right here is your neutral position. If you want to go side slide go to the right. You want to think about dipping the right knee down. Remember that you want to arch at all times this is what is going to keep you stable. Extend you left leg out and go ahead and make a very aggressive leg turn to the right. If you go ahead and make your right turn with your arm you are going to go ahead move to the right. Opposite of going to the left you want think about dipping your left leg down. Again keeping that arch extending your right leg and go ahead and initiate a left turn with your arms just as well. Combining these two will make you side slide.
