The Belly to Back Transition in Skydiving & Free Flying
Hi welcome to Expert Village my name is Nick Daniel. I'm going to go ahead and discuss the belly to back transition over the feet. Generally what you are looking for is a nice neutral body position in your belly position right here. You want to start with a slight upper movement this is going to prohibit any forward or backwards movement or possibility side sliding it is going to keep you nice and center. You want to start off by reaching forward with your arms to increase lifts in your upper body. What is going to happen is that your upper body is going to rise. I want you to bring your knees in towards your body and just keep your knees nice and wide. This would give you more stability. As your body starts to become a little bit more inverted you will actually past through a sit like position, however you are going to be there briefly. You just want to think about flying your upper body over your legs. Again try to bring your feet underneath you and as you past through the sit down position just think about going to your back side. Once you enter the neutral back side position you want to remember arms above your head because there is going to be some inertia coming over from that transition. If you don't stop it in time you actually over rotate so you want to think about presenting your arms out and that is going to go head stop that motion and then you would be into that neutral backside.
