Tips for Attaching Drawstrings to Jewelry Bags
Okay, so now I'm going to show you how to sew it on, like how--the way I do, and what I do, is I just sew it together while the drawstring is inside already, and that's how I did these--both of these, and I like the way it looks better, just because it just lays better, the tabs are in there nicer. And when you look at these, they kind of crinkle up, and it's just--if I lay it on here, and then wrap it around and do it, I know that they fit in there nice and perfectly. Okay, so what I'm going to do is wrap it around one side, have it sticking out on--underneath, just like that, just kind of sandwich it in there. Then we still need to make sure everything is lined up, so when it's coming out right here, you just make sure that they're turned both the same way. Okay, so now I'm going to lay the other one next to it--not too close, because we want to be able to sew in between them. Wrap it around on that side. Now I'm going to just going to lay it upside down like this, and just have a look at it. I'm going to turn my seam under just a tad on the backside. Okay, everything is looking good. I'm going to put a pin right here in between. Remember, if this is just too much for you, just do it the way I did it the first time, and that turns out just as good. But I like doing it this way just because, I just like the way it looks. Okay, so I'm going to bring it over here. I have that pin right here in the middle; I'm just going to slip it out, because I'm going to sew it right now. Okay, make sure that these guys are pulled apart just a little bit. There we go. Okay, and there's that side. Let me clip all these threads off, I think that we got it. Let's see, yep I got it. And if you didn't get it, that means that part of this, one of these straps got stuck in this seam. Happens to me all the time, all you'll have to do is just take it off and sew it again, and make sure that they're separated. See how far they're separated right there in the middle? So anyways, that's sewing the drawstring on the way that I like to do it. Then this was sewing the drawstring on by making the casing, then slipping it in. The same difference, they look the same way. So in the next clip, I'm going to show you how to finish off these little ties, to make it look nice and finished, and that will be just about it for this.
