Let's play our G minor melodic scale again. (playing violin) First scale degree open G, A natural is our second scale degree, third half step away B flat, sixth C natural, D natural our fifth, F sharp is seventh. Our eighth scale degree is a G natural it's played with your third finger on the D string. Now our eighth scale degree is the same note as our first scale degree, a G natural let's play it first finger D string. (playing violin) Between seven and eight in a melodic minor scale are half steps.
