Summary: A generic term for the martial art sport, kickboxing is practiced for fitness and as a full-contact sport. There are many different types of kick boxing, varying from country to country. Each kind involves different types of strikes, but all are based on the kicking style. Some styles involve strikes with the arms, knees and elbows. The Japanese style of kickboxing (called shoot-boxing) allows throwing and submission of the opponents. Adithada, the Indian style, allows knee, elbow and forehead strikes. In this free video series, get tips for a cardio kickboxing workout from a kickboxing instructor. First, she explains the benefits of stretches, getting a good ab workout before beginning a routine and the various kicking and punching motions involved with cardio kickboxing. Next, jump right in with front and side kicks, hooks, uppercuts and cross punches. Finally, incorporate punching mitts and kicking pads to get the best workout possible.
