Summary: The first petroleum powered motorcycle was designed and built by German inventors in 1885. There was a steam powered, two-wheeled vehicle that was demonstrated at fairs and circuses in 1867 in the eastern United States. Modern day motorcycles consist of a chassis, an engine, a transmission, wheels and tires, a brake system, suspension coils, and instruments to gauge speed, distance and other important variables. There are many types of motorcycles now, including pocket bikes, choppers, sport bikes, motocross bikes, mopeds, scooters, cruisers and touring motorcycles.

In this free sports bike video series an experienced motorcyclist, Jared Cummings, will demonstrate the basics of motorcycle riding. Cummings will begin by introducing the safety gear and motorcycle parts. He'll then demonstrate how to properly turn on and off the motorcycle as well as how to stop and start. Later, Cummings will reveal how to begin inching forward on the bike by involving the clutch and gas. He'll then demonstrate several safety riding procedures, such as: turning, counter sitting, cornering, how to avoid objects, down shifting as well as how to drive over hazardous object in case of emergencies.
