Summary: The development of skateboarding coincides with the popularization of surfing in California around the 1950's. Since that time, skateboarding has seen many rises and falls in popularity, with several generations of young skaters developing the sport and their own skateboarding tricks and techniques. The current generation of skateboarders is more accepted and less rebellious than previous generations, and often skate on city built skate parks designed for a variety of skateboarding tricks.

The board slide gets its name because a skateboarder is rolling up and sliding on the middle of the board. The board slide used to be called a rail slide because, at one point, rails were attached to the middle of the board to make it easier to slide. In this free video series, a sponsored skateboarder will teach you how to do a boardslide, from foot placement and common mistakes to variations on the boardslide, including a boardslide fakie, switch boardslide, and how to do a boardslide on a straight bar. With these tips and techniques, you'll soon have mastered a new skateboarding trick that you can take all the way to the X-Games!
