Summary: Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that has been practiced and adapted throughout the years to encompass many different styles. Though not as "hard" a martial art as say, Taekwondo in that it does not overtly foster sparring and contact fighting, Tai Chi is nevertheless made up of forms which mimic blocks and strikes of "harder" martial arts. It is now primarily used as a form of spiritual and mystic exercise that incorporates body and mind through meditation and movement.

In this free video series a professional Tai Chi instructor, Rich Marantz, will show you how to take Tai Chi and apply the movements to martial arts. Rich will begin by explaining how Tai Chi can be utilized to redirect and neutralize the energy of an aggressive opponent. You'll learn several defenses, such as: the headlock defense, grab from behind defense, the choke defense, the hair grab defense and even the double shirt grab defense. Expert: Rich Marantz is the director and instructor of Green Mountain Tai Chi in Manchester, Vermont. He has taken his passion for Taoist philosophy and Chinese internal martial arts and created classes, programs and workshops that promote the improvement of health. Rich, a 26th generation Wudang Long Men lineage holder, is certified in the instruction of Tai Chi, Qigong and External-Qi Healing. He is currently a high-level teaching student of Yun Xiang Tseng (Master Chen) of Wudang Mountain, China.
